#kellythoughts: Letting Go of Boredom
One thing I've been letting go through my journaling process is boredom. How many of us are bored with our lives? How many of us are overwhelmed with the things we find going wrong or not going at all... We feel stuck. We feel restless. We feel like there is nothing we can do. We are so so bored. I totally get it.
Feeling bored is a result of a lot of things. It is not usually because we are lazy or have "nothing to do.' Boredom can come from loneliness, anxiety, grief, depression, anger, or other self defeating feelings. The truth is that these are some of the toughest feelings to honor and these feelings are also some of the hardest to let go. BUT if you feel stuck in boredom mode, why not explore these feelings?
Today I invite you to do the unthinkable and write... Write for 20 minutes straight about the anger, sadness, hopelessness, anxiety, grief, and boredom you are feeling. Don't stop to think, just write for 20 minutes straight. Set a timer and just go for it. Let it all out. Don't think. Don't try to make it make sense. Just write.
Once your 20 minutes is done, take the paper outside, in a safe spot, and burn it. Don't bother reading it or thinking about it- just burn in and let it go with love and gratitude.
THEN I invite you to let go of boredom by going for a walk, going to the park with your kids (or dogs, or friends), eat some ice cream, make a painting, read an inspiring book, go for a beautiful drive, cook something new in your kitchen, go swimming, or do one small thing that sets your soul on fire and makes you SMILE.
Life does not have to be perfect for you to enjoy it. Even days after my son Elijah died, when I wanted to die with him, my soul still found a way to laugh, because it needed it. You need laughter and joy too. No matter what you are going through.
I love you and you are never alone in this. Now let go of the boredom and go have some fun!!! 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
